Our Story

It all began in 2006 when Brennan, a Solatube pioneer since 2004, teamed up with his wife Melody to launch Solar Light Inc. Their vision? To make the world a brighter place, one home at a time. For nearly two decades, they built a legacy of light in Bend, Oregon, serving thousands with unmatched care. Today, Brennan steps back as our founding advisor, passing the torch to Jim Erickson. Jim carries forward the mission with fresh energy and deep roots, ensuring Solar Light Inc remains a family-inspired force in natural lighting.

  • Jim Erickson – Owner
    Jim’s story is one of transformation. As the mastermind behind R3 Homes in Bend, he’s spent years perfecting premium remodels, turning houses into dream homes. When he joined Solar Light Inc as owner, he saw a chance to do more – to blend his construction savvy with a passion for sustainable living. Jim’s the guy who dreams big, ensuring every Solatube installation isn’t just functional, but a game-changer for your home. He’s driven by the belief that light doesn’t just illuminate – it elevates. With Jim at the helm, you’re getting a leader who’s as invested in your space as you are.

  • Brennan – Founding Advisor
    The spark that lit the fuse, Brennan’s been in the Solatube game since 2004. His passion for a brighter, more hopeful world launched Solar Light Inc, and though he’s stepped into an advisory role, his influence still guides us. Brennan’s the voice in our ear, reminding us why we started: to bring light where it’s needed most.

Solatube History

Solatube’s history started 30 years ago in Australia when the CEO helped invent the first ever tubular skylight. They named their invention Solatube Daylighting System. This invention started a revolution in the tubular skylight industry. This high-tech, leak-proof skylight, was the catalyst that transformed the world of daylighting. This modern skylight was a hit with homeowners because it was a third of the price of a traditional skylight with twice as much natural light. Plus, it didn’t leak. Soon after manufacturing began, Premier Dealers were trained and certified to install the Solatube Tubular Skylights in to homes.

Our Certified Installation Consultants are daylighting and ventilation experts who are factory-trained and certified on all Solatube products.
